Building on the work ABTA and its Members have been undertaking on human rights, ABTA has signed up to the Roundtable for Human Rights in Tourism. This is a multi-stakeholder alliance of civil society organisations, tour operators and travel associations dedicated to respecting human rights.
IUCN, has published new “Guidelines on Tourism and Visitor Management in Protected Areas”. Produced by Yu-Fai Leung, Anna Spencely, Glen Hvenegaard and Ralf Buckley, leading experts of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist (TAPAS) Group, with the support of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf the Federal German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, as well as North Carolina State University.
